Summary:
Using the knowledge that I have obtained while working in the field at various nuclear plants, I have developed my thinking process during planning, EC reviews, and field walkdowns to acknowledge every aspect of project implementation. Some of the items I consider are: interference with other modifications, scaffolding issues and cost of erection, material cost, man hour cost, etc. I have applied this thinking process to planning and field engineering to maximize Design Package and Work Package quality, and to ensure that implementation can be performed in the safest manner possible, while reducing cost by identifying and eliminating unnecessary work, and/or recommending a different way to perform the job.
I identified an area of improvement within an Engineering Design Package which collectively saved tens of thousands of dollars due to the elimination of unnecessary work to be performed, and the minimization of scaffolding erection that would have interfered with projects on the floor elevation below:
